Bonaire (BTB) selection and Qualification Policy
Pan American Championships 2026

1. Objective:

1.1 This policy outlines the procedure for the selection and qualification of players who will represent Bonaire at the Pan American Championships 2026 (PanAm). It aims to ensure a fair, transparent, and performance-based selection process.

1.2 This policy is final and binding and applies exclusively to the selection process for the Pan American Championships of 2026.

1.3 This policy will be carried out by the BTB board.

2. Selection Period:

2.1 The qualification period for all players runs from July 1, 2025, to July 1, 2026.

2.2 At the end of this period, the board will announce the selection.

3. Selection Criteria:

3.1 Selection shall be based exclusively on the official national doubles ranking. The four (4) highest-ranked female double players and the four (4) highest-ranked male double players shall be selected. Only results obtained in doubles competitions shall be considered for this ranking. Points earned in mixed doubles and singles competitions shall not be taken into account.
3.2 In the event that two or more players have an identical number of points at the end of the qualification period, the following tiebreak criteria will apply, in order of priority:

  1. Best result in a recognized BTB tournament (highest round reached in the highest tournament level).
  2. Head-to-head results between the tied players during the qualification period (if applicable).
  3. Number of tournaments played during the qualification period.
  4. Decision by the BTB board, in consultation with relevant parties.

4. Requirements players:

4.1 In addition to meeting performance criteria, players must meet the following formal requirements to be eligible for selection:

  • The player must have resided in Bonaire for at least one year at the time of selection.
  • The player must possess a valid Sedula (ID) of Bonaire.
  • The player must hold a valid passport.
  • The player must be registered under the Bonairean flag with the ITF by no later than August 1, 2026.
  • The player must comply with the vaccination requirements and recommendations for travel to the country where the tournament will be played, as outlined by the GGD (Municipal Health Service of the Netherlands). Players must either provide proof of having received the necessary vaccinations or show confirmation of an appointment to obtain them prior to departure.
  • The player is required to accept to cover all costs related to their participation in the Pan American Championships—including travel, accommodation, and other related expenses—unless financial support or subsidy is provided by BTB or another authorized body.
  • Within 15 days of selection, the player is required to submit official documentation confirming their availability.

4.2 Selected players are expected to:

  • Represent the Beach Tennis Association in a sporting, professional, and respectful manner.
  • Participate in all official training sessions, team activities, meetings, media moments, and other official events related to the Pan American Championship as designated by the Board.
  • Comply with all applicable rules and regulations of the association, the national federation, and the Pan American Championship organizers.
  • Ensure timely availability and possession of valid travel documents, visas, and other required documentation, unless otherwise communicated by the Board.

5. Team Composition

5.1 A maximum of two Men’s Doubles teams, two Women’s Doubles teams, and two Mixed Doubles teams may be formed to represent Bonaire at the Pan American Championships.

5.2 To ensure the best possible team composition, the qualified players are allowed to jointly decide which two players will form the first team and which the second team, for both the Doubles and the Mixed Doubles events.

5.3 If the selected players are unable to reach a mutual agreement on the team composition for the Doubles and / or Mixed Doubles events, the BTB board will make the final decision.

5.4 Each National Association may enter a maximum of 2 Men’s, 2 Women’s, and 2 Mixed Doubles teams (the host nation may enter an additional team in each tournament). The squad may consist of up to 4 male and 4 female players per country. Only players competing in the Men’s or Women’s Doubles events are eligible to participate in the Mixed Doubles competition. Players must be nominated by their National Association and must be eligible to represent that nation. Each nation must select a captain (a playing or non-playing team member) to be the person responsible on-site during the event.

6. Confirmation of Participation

6.1 Selected players must confirm their participation within 15 days after the announcement by submitting the provided form (BTB Registration Form: Selected Player Pan American Championships 2026). They must also meet all formal requirements and provide the necessary documentation to the organization.

6.2 If no timely confirmation is received, or if a player declines participation or fails to meet the formal requirements, their spot will automatically be assigned to the next eligible player on the respective ranking. This process may continue down to the 10th ranked player.

7. Exceptions and Unforeseen Circumstances

7.1 In exceptional cases, such as injury or force majeure, the BTB board reserves the right to appoint a replacement, either within or outside of the standard ranking order, in consultation.

7.2 In cases of serious personal circumstances—such as the death of a close family member, serious illness, or other force majeure—the BTB board may decide, in consultation with the player, to deviate from the standard procedure.

7.3 If a highly ranked player is suspended, behaves inappropriately, or violates the BTB or ITF code of conduct, the BTB board may decide to exclude this player from selection, regardless of their ranking.

7.4 In all such cases, the BTB board reserves the right to make a well-considered decision in consultation with relevant parties. These decisions will be documented with justification and communicated in writing to the parties involved. S
